Y3-6 Choir Practice
Choir practice will take place every Monday evening in school from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. Any child is welcome to join the school choir and they will not have to audition. The only requirement is that the children enjoy singing!
Concert at All Saints Church
22nd May 2017
Our choir attended a concert at All Saints Church and sang alongside the Liverpool Phoenix Voices Choir in a concert to celebrate singing. The children sang a number of songs about dreams. As we come to the end of a school year they sang about moving on and looking to the future. Chocolate Dreams; Dreamer; See Me; The Lightening Tree and Annie's Tomorrow were all sung beautifully. It was a great opportunity for our children to sing with other choirs and to perform in the local community. Miss Wikeley is keen to remind all that the choir is none selective and open to all junior children who have a love of singing, although I am sure those parents who attended can agree that they sounded very professional. A huge thank you to the children, their parents and the staff who supported on the night. Extra thanks go to Miss Wikeley and the staff and volunteers who support her every week with the choir rehearsals.
Music in the Infants is taught by the class teachers. The children will be encouraged to explore sound in a variety of ways and will be able to play instruments as well as develop their singing skills. They will begin to develop an understanding of a range of musical elements and will also have opportunities to experiment with composition and performance.
Each child in the Juniors is taught music for half an hour a week. These sessions are delivered by Miss Wikeley and cover a wide range of musical genres and skills such as performance, composition, listening and appraising. The children will be singing, performing, playing musical instruments and will they will also begin to explore music technology in these sessions.
Music tuition in school
We offer a wide variety of instrumental tuition in school. The children are taught by peripatetic music teachers and woodwind, string, keyboard, guitar and brass instruments are all taught. If you are interested in your child learning a musical instrument, please speak to Miss Wikeley for more information.
We often have requests for piano lessons, however we are unable to offer this at present. If you are interested in your child learning the piano, please speak to Miss Wikeley and she will be able to suggest teachers in the local area.
