Sainsbury's School Games Competitive Races

Sainsbury's School Games Day

7th July 2015 

Our annual sports day, a culmination of the years competition programme, took place today. The children competed in house teams and despite the weather, had lots of fun. The competitive races that were due to take place in the afternoon were cancelled as the light showers turned heavy. They will now take place on Thursday.

Y5 Cricket Tournament

2nd July 2015

A huge well done to our Y5 cricket team who played in the Liverpool School Sports Partnership tournament yesterday. They progressed to the semi-finals and winning 4 out of 5 games saw them come 4th in the City.

Y5&6 Athletic Championships

30th June 2015

During the recent athletics tournament five of our children were selected to race at City level. The event took place on the hottest day of the year, and all children gave it 100% in the heat. Erin came 5th in the City in the 800m and Adam 6th. Lewis and Billy both came second in their sports bringing home silver medals in the 75m and long jump respectively, and we are proud to report that Joe won gold in the 800m and is now a City Champion. A huge well done to all of the children who represented the school.

Y6 Cricket Tournament 

9th June 2015

Y6 team competed in the Liverpool School Sports Partnership Cricket Tournament all day event at Sefton Park Cricket Club. We played 2 matches and the group stage winning one and seeing the team through to the quarterfinals. Unfortunately we lost the next matches and didn't progress any further in the tournament, but took the opportunity to practice further and engaged in a few friendly matches. A huge thank you to the parents who dropped off and collected the children from the venue. Mr Hawthorne was delighted at the behaviour and sportsmanship of the children and how they represented the school at this event. 

Y5&6 Athletics Tournament 

8th & 10th June 2015

Our Y5&6 children have taken part in the annual Liverpool City athletics tournament. A hugely successful event which saw 15 children through to the final and compete in 24 events. Some great results including 1st and 2nd places saw us place overall 5th in the City. To finish the wonderful tournament, five of our children have been selected to race at City level. A huge well done to all who took part.

Y5&6 High 5 Netball Tournament 

3rd June 2015

Well done to our Y5&6 Netball team who competed in the Liverpool School Sports Partnership netball tournament. The team played well in the heats, but unfortunately didn't qualify for the semi-finals. They thoroughly enjoyed games played and Miss Drayne commented on how well they behaved at the tournament.

Y5&6 Boys Football Under 11's South Liverpool Cup Winners

5th May 2015

A huge congratulations to the Y5&6 boys team - winners of the Under 11's South Liverpool Cup Final. A tense match saw many opportunities for the team to score, but denied by the goalkeeper from Christ the King Catholic Primary School. Cheered on by parents and supporters of the school, the goal finally came 3 minutes from the final whistle. Scored by Adam and celebrated by all. Well done boys.

Y6 Lacrosse Final

29th April 2015

Our Y6 Lacrosse Team competed in the South Central and South Liverpool School Sports Partnership Lacrosse finals. Having played 4 games, the team progressed to the semi finals. After being beaten (by the team who went onto win) in the semi, we played for runner up position and came 4th in the City. A huge achievement, well done!

Y5&6 Lacrosse Competition 

21st April 2015

Our Y5 and Y6 Lacrosse teams competed in the South Central and South Liverpool School Sports Partnership competition. A huge congratulations to the Y6 team who made it through to the finals being held on 28th April.

Y5&6 Ultimate Basketball Tournament

1st April 2015

Our Y5&6 basketball team competed in the Everton in the Community and New Directions Education Ultimate Basketball Tournament. They competed with 15 other teams from across Liverpool and Knowsley. After 4-0 and 6-0 defeats, the team came back to win their next game 10-0, but didn't qualify for the next round. Having enjoyed the tournament so much, the team had a few friendly matches with other non-qualified teams then watched the final match.

Y4 Boys Football Tournament 

1st April 2015

The annual EFC tournament saw our Y4 boys football team win the group stages by winning all three of their matches. This saw them qualify for the semi-finals where we got beat by Gilmour Juniors who went on to win the tournament. In the playoffs we drew 2-2, but won on penalties coming 3rd in the tournament. Well done boys!

Y5&6 Swim Gala Finals

Friday 27th March 2015

Well done to our Y5&6 boys swim team who qualified in the heats on Wednesday. Good Luck boys. 

Y5&6 Girls Football Match 

27th March 2015

Well done to our girls team who played at home against Gilmour Juniors in the semi final of the South Liverpool Under 11's Girls Cup. Unfortunately we lost 4-0, but the girls played well with their behaviour and team spirit commended by staff.

Y5&6 Swim Gala

25th March 2015

Well done to our Y5&6 Girls Team who came 4th in the annual Liverpool Sport Partnership swimming gala heats. Congratulations also go to our Y5&6 Boys Team who came 2nd and see themselves qualifying for the finals which will take place on Friday 27th March 2015. Good Luck boys.

Y5&6 Girls Football Match 

19th March 2015

Congratulations to our girls football team who won their match against Rudston Primary School today. After the final whistle blew at 1-1, the girls prepared for the fate of the penalty shoot out. A final score of 5-4 has seen the girls through to the Under 11's South Liverpool Semi Finals. Well done and we look forward to your next match.

Y6 Boys Football Tournament 

19th March 2015

Our Y6 boys attended the annual EFC tournament at Enterprise South Liverpool Academy (ESLA). Group scores of 5-0: 2-1; 2-0; 0-1 and 1-0 saw them finish top of their group and through to the semi-final. A disappointing 1-0 loss ended the tournament for the team. A huge well done to the boys who played exceptionally well throughout the tournament. 

Y5 Boys Football Tournament

11th March 2015

Our Y5 boys attended the annual EFC tournament held at Enterprise South Liverpool Academy (ESLA). Team wins of 2-0; 5-0 and 7-0 saw the boys easily through to the tournament semi final. After a 2-0 semi final win the excitement levels were high as the boys went on to the final. After a 0-0 extra time score, the match went to penalty shoot outs. Unfortunately the boys were beaten 3-2 on penalties. Mr Hawthorne congratulated the team on their quality of play and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. 

Y5&6 Boys Football Match 

27th February 2015

A gallant win against St Paschal Baylon Catholic Primary School has seen our Y5&6 boys to the Final of the Under 11's South Liverpool Cup.  After a 1-0 lead by Childwall CE Primary, St Paschal Baylon scored, but our team soon took the lead at 2-1, then 3-1. Not deterred, St Paschal Baylon soon scored to 3-2 and then equalised.  3-3 after full time saw the match into a nail biting extra time and the winning goal by Elliot secured their place in the final. Well done boys and we look forward to the next match.

Y3-6 Cross Country 

26th February 2015

Congratulations to our cross country team for excellent team work the race at Sefton Park. They all completed the race and Joseph finished in 6th place. Well done everyone.

Y5&6 Boys Football Match

24th February 2015

Congratulations to our boys team who beat St Paul's Catholic Junior School 2-0 at home. Lewis came on at half time and scored 2 fantastic goals. The team's behaviour was once again praised and we look forward to hosting more home matches in the future.

Y6 Dance Event

11th February 2015

Our Y6 dance group recently competed in the South Central and South Liverpool dance event at Enterprise South Liverpool Academy (ESLA). The group performed a choreographed routine to Jai Ho and were commended for their teamwork - being awarded the Teamwork Sainsbury's School Games Value for their troupe performance. Well done!

Y5&6 Boys Football Match

9th February 2015

Despite a fantastic effort, we were defeated 3-2 in this match against Rice Lane Juniors. Goals from Lewis and Adam held the score at 2-2 until a last minute free kick sealed the winner for Rice Lane. We would like to thank the fantastic support from our team parents who have transported the children to their 3rd consecutive away match. 

Y5&6 Boys Football Match  

3rd February 2015

Our Y5&6 football team played away in a league match against Woolton Primary School. A tense game that saw our team 2-0 down at the end of the first half. Thanks to goals early in the second half by Lewis and Elliot, we were back to 2-2 draw. Another goal by Woolton Primary followed by a deflected shot saw us fall behind (4-2). Lewis scored another goal but despite best efforts we were unable to score again and the final whistle blew at 4-3. Mr Hawthorne commented that the teams attitude and effort in the match could not be faulted and once again the school are proud of the dedication and behaviour of our children.

Year 6 Dodgeball Tournament 

27th January 2015

We are extremely proud of our Y6 dodgeball team who recently attended their first tournament which took place at Childwall Sports & Science Academy. The group stages saw the team play 9 games which took them to the play off's for 3rd/ 4th group place and a further 4 games were played. A huge well done to the team who came in overall 6th in the tournament. It was commented that the children represented the school to the highest standards with impeccable behaviour, not just at the games, but also whilst walking to and from the event.

Year 5&6 Boys Football Tournament 

25th November 2014

A huge well done to our Year 5&6 Boys Football Team who beat Booker Avenue 3-2 in their match this week. This win see the team move into the Semi Finals of the South Liverpool Cup which will take place in the New Year.

Sainsbury's School Games Mark

October 2014

We received notification to advise that what achieved the Bronze Sainsbury's School Games Mark. This mark rewards schools for their commitment to, and development of, P.E, sports clubs and competitions. It also recognises the hard work that the school have undertaken to ensure all young people have access to a wide breadth of sports opportunities within the school.

Happy Hedgehog Sports Christmas Festival 2014

A fun filled festival of sports took place on Saturday 13th December 2014 at school. Children from Reception to Y6 took part in a variety of sporting activities including hockey; football and basketball. A few festive games were added including 'Pick Up A Penguin' and 'Santa Shoot Out'. The day was completed by a visit from Santa who challenged the children to a penalty shoot out. He offered all children who scored a goal against him a prize. The children practised their shots and we are pleased to announce the final score.......Happy Hedgehog Sports Children 1; Santa 0!! All of the children were victorious in their efforts and take home their selection box prize.
